The police clearance certificate is valid for 6 Months from the date of issuance. Your police clearance only confirms the cleared record at the time of issuance. The Philippines’ national police considered it outdated after 6 months because the records can change within this period. The validity is clearly mentioned on your certificate with the title “Valid Until”.

If you require the validity of your existing clearance certificate date to be extended, this is not something the Philippines National Police offers. You can’t get it extended like a driving licence. 

So basically, if your existing clearance has expired, there will be a reapplication. Your account with the NPCS website stays active. You can log in to your account and initiate the application. If your personal information has changed previously, you can also edit your details. 

Follow the steps below to renew your clearance certificate.

  • Account Login: Log in to you exisiting police clearance certificate from your last application. 
  • Select Renewal: Once logged in to the account, select the option of Clearance Renewal. 
  • Renewal Method: You can select renewal with an appearance at the police station or without an appearance. Select your preferred method. 
  • Fee Payment: Pay the processing fee for police clearance renewal. The renewal fee is same as the new application, Php150 + Convenience fee, depending on the payment mode, which can be from Php10 to Php30.
  • Receive Confirmation: Receive confirmation of the application from PNP at your registered email and phone number. 

If your clearance certificate was issued in the previous year, you can renew it without appearing at the police station. You will need the following: 

  • Check if the details of the profile are correct or if any changes are required. 
  • Upload the 2×2 recent picture with the white background. 
  • Upload the selfie holding the valid Government ID next to you.
  • Wait for the system to process the updated information. 

You will receive the application renewal confirmation, and the new certificate can be downloaded from your NPCS account. 

Here is how you can renew your police clearance with an appointment at the police station. 

Schedule your Appointment: During the clearance renewal, select the appearance renewal. The system will direct you to schedule the appointment. Select your preferred slot at your nearest police station.  

Pay the Processing Fee: Pay the fee for the application with your preferred payment option. 

Requirement: 

Prepare the following documents for your visit.

  • A Valid Government Issued ID (To avoid any inconvenience, it is suggested to keep more than one ID)
  • Payment Receipt of processing fee. 
  • Application reference number generated with the application submission. 

Attend the Appointment: Visit the police station on your appointment day at your scheduled time. Bring all the required documents mentioned above. (Arrive 10-15 minutes early before the scheduled time)

Biometrics and Verification: Go through the verification process, fingerprint, and photo capture. 

Get the Clearance: Receive your renewed clearance certificate. 

Long Expiry Renewal: If it has been a year since your clearance certificate’s expiry. You must apply with appearance. Visit the police station for biometrics and photo capture. The process is the same as the new application. 

Lost Police Clearance: If your existing clearance has been lost you can log in to the NPCS website and re print you clearance certificate without the need of renewal or reapplication. 

Name Change after Marriage: If your name has changed since your last clearance certificate. You must select the renewal with appearance. Make sure to also update your name with the NPCS account. 

After submitting the renewal application “without appearance,” the processing can take a few days to issue the new clearance certificate. 

For the renewal “with appearance,” if you don’t have the hit status, you will receive the clearance certificate on the same day of your appointment. If there is a hit status, further verification will be required. 

Note: If you received the Hit status previously while getting the clearance. Bring the same documents for verification again, as it is likely that you will receive the hit status again.
